The Australian Government has just launched the $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program, giving households, businesses, and community organisations a 30% discount on the upfront cost of installing a home battery system.

Why It Matters

Australia leads the world in rooftop solar, but only 1 in 40 homes currently has a battery. Batteries are the missing piece of the puzzle — allowing you to store cheap solar power for use when the sun isn’t shining.

Support for batteries between 5 kWh and 100 kWh

This federal rebate is in addition to existing state-based battery incentives — which means you may be able to stack multiple rebates for even more savings.

Who’s Eligible?

Eligibility is outlined in the 2025 Renewable Energy (Electricity) Amendment and includes:

Households, businesses, and community organisations
Batteries that meet Clean Energy Council standards
Installation by an accredited technician under Solar Accreditation Australia
