Zac Power Is Now a NETCC Approved Seller – What That Means for Cowra and the Central West

Zac Power is now a NETCC Approved Seller, and at the time of writing, we’re the only NETCC Approved Seller based in Cowra. Here’s what that actually means and why it matters if you’re looking at solar or a battery.
What is the NETCC?
The New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) is a national consumer protection code for businesses selling solar, batteries, EV chargers and other new energy products. It was designed by peak industry and consumer bodies, it’s authorised by the ACCC, and it’s administered by the Clean Energy Council. To become a NETCC Approved Seller, a business has to demonstrate that its sales practices, quoting, contracts, warranties and complaint handling all meet the standards in the code, and it has to keep meeting them to stay approved.
It’s not a sticker you buy. It’s an application, an assessment, and ongoing obligations covering the whole customer journey, from the first ad you see through to warranty support years after the install.
What it commits us to
The code sets out specific, measurable obligations. A few worth knowing about.
Quotes have to be complete. That means itemised equipment lists with manufacturer and model, a site-specific design and performance estimate, clear disclosure of any system limitations (like what a battery will and won’t back up), any site conditions that could add cost, and the full price shown as prominently as any part of it. No burying the important stuff in fine print.
No pressure selling. The code prohibits high-pressure sales tactics, fake discounts and misleading claims about performance or savings. Any savings or return-on-investment claim has to be reasonably based and the assumptions behind it disclosed.
Complaints get handled properly. Approved Sellers commit to responding to complaints within 15 business days and providing a final response within 25, with clear escalation paths to independent bodies if you’re not satisfied.
If you’ve had a quote from us before, none of this will read as new. It’s largely how we’ve operated since 2018. The approval makes it official and puts an independent administrator behind it.
The big one: access to the NSW Home Energy Saver loan
Here’s the practical benefit. To access the NSW Government’s Home Energy Saver interest-free loan, your installer must be a NETCC Approved Seller. That’s a hard requirement, not a preference.
The loan is 0% interest, up to $15,000, over terms up to 10 years, with no fees. It’s delivered through Brighte and can be used for solar, batteries, EV chargers and reverse cycle air conditioning. For a lot of households, it’s the difference between putting a system off for another few years and getting it done now with repayments that sit below the power bill savings.
Because we’re NETCC approved, we can offer this loan directly on eligible systems. If you’re in Cowra, Orange, Forbes, Parkes, Young or anywhere in the Central West and you’ve been quoted by a company that can’t offer it, it’s worth asking why.
